Acupuncture for pregnancy
Acupuncture has been shown to be safe in pregnancy as long as it it delivered by practitioners with a robust level of training.
Always look for an acupuncturist who is part of the regulated registration bodies, such as the British Acupuncture Council, or the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, as to be a member shows a rigorous standard of training
I am a ‘Fertility Support Trained’ Acupuncturist, which means I have completed the Advanced Fertility Diploma, trained by Naava Carman.
This training is a worldwide recognised Gold standard of Fertility Acupuncture, and is focused on fertility and supporting pregnancy.
Pregnancy may be accompanied by some unexpected health conditions. Acupuncture can be a useful treatment approach for many conditions such as morning sickness, lower back pain, Symphysis Pubis Disorder, and general wellbeing in pregnancy. It can also be used for birth preparation and as an aid to turn Breech presentation babies.
Please see my FAQ page for more details on birth preparation and Breech presentation.
Breech Presentation
Acupuncture with take home moxibustion protocol can help to turn a Breech presentation baby. This can be so effective, that some NHS trusts in England are now training midwives to perform this treatment. I perform Breech presentation treatments between 34 and 37 weeks of pregnancy, with your midwife team’s agreement and having ruled out some conditions. I will take a full health consultation before giving you an acupuncture treatment. I will give you some moxa sticks to take home with full instructions to continue performing the treatment daily at home. Please see my FAQ on pregnancy page for evidence and for more information.
